Called Out: Waiting for God

Today’s Bible verse is Acts 1:1-12.

So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” -Acts 1:6-8

Patience isn’t one of the virtues of our 21st century culture. When Jesus’ disciples asked him for a timetable, he told them that wasn’t their business. Wait for the power of the Holy Spirit, he said. How about us? Are we OK with Jesus’ agenda and timetable? What does it mean to wait for God?
