Today’s Word is Isaiah 55:1-12.
“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NRSV)
Did God change between the Old and New Testaments? What was God thinking doing some of the things we read about in the Old Testament? Where are the love and grace we see in Jesus’ teaching? Are they there at all?
Today’s Big Questions
#1 - I cannot equate the God of the Old Testament who helped, asked for, etc. armies to kill with the God of love in the New Testament.
#2 - Why don’t we as Christians, follow all the dietary (& other) laws of Moses?
#3 - How come some things like slavery and polygamy were OK back in Old Testament times?
